- 6:30 am - Get up — I wear my Apple Watch to bed. I can then use the alarm on my watch to wake me up in the morning. The goal is to wake me up without waking up my wife, who likes to sleep later than me.
- 6:35 am - Make coffee — I’m a hardcore coffee drinker. I’ll do another post sometime about my coffee setup. But I generally grind whole-bean coffee and brew it in my Chemex. I use a gooseneck water kettle to heat the water.
- 6:40 am - Morning meditation — I’ve been experimenting with adding 5 minutes of morning breathing meditation to my day. I’ve been using Peloton meditations. Breathing meditation is linked to reduced cortisol levels and inflammation.
- 6:45 am - Reading the Bible — Most often, I’m using the He Reads Truth Bible reading plans.
- 7:00 am - Reading the news — I’ll flip through New York Times headlines on my phone and save articles that I want to read later throughout the day. I’ve also gotten into the news app Artifact by the Instagram founders.
- 7:15 am - Kids come downstairs — When they were younger, we used the green light clocks to know when they could leave their rooms. Now, they both know how to tell time. They know they can leave their rooms at 7:15 am and come downstairs for breakfast.
- 815am - Kids leave for school/camp
